I married a very religious woman(I'm not) she heard this in my truck riding and liked it. Ruined her enjoyment when she tried to find it and found official video. I
@Rich Delaney of course but Ghost is not a satanist band, it is a playful way of making music and ok maybe make fun of religions in general. But thank you for your kind words.
@Marie Christine I am deeply saddened to hear about that. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that must to accept. I lost a few people close to me as well and time will not heal those wounds, however, time will lessen the pain from those wounds. Anyways, I know that this is probably the wrong place to be asking you this (because I know that Ghost is a Satanist band that doesn't like religion and I am a born again believer in Jesus, Christ who stumbled over this video on accident), but is there anyway that I can pray for you and your family during this time?
@Rich Delaney I am fine although we never recover completely from a suicide of someone close. It is a death that we can’t admit. He will be at every concert with me.
Despite What people say when they hear me listening to Ghost, I don't worship the big guy down stairs. These guys are just masterful song writers with a theme. A lot of songs of theirs are deeply metaphorical.
Well most people forget that the archangel downstairs does a pretty important job. And if you had a important job to be done, you would not hire just anyone would you?
@vonzox Like a lot of Ghost songs there are multiple layers to it. It is most definitely also about Satan. Tobias' brother introduced him to a lot of the (metal) music that inspired him
@Winston Smith I have another question. Why did he allow the killing of innocent women and children in the book of Samuel If they had no idea who the true God is? Just a complete slaughter in the name of God. Sounds very fucked up.
@Sean Bergeron A lot of Muslims are afraid of this music because it supposedly is "satanic". I always ask if they are also afraid of horror movies and think they are forbidden to? By the same logic (or lack of it) it should be the case. I mean the exorcist warped my mind as a child.
A Nameless Ghoul told Loudwire that there are various degrees of personal meaning within the song, one of which is the lyrics. He explained that the original demo lyrics were "bogus" and did not have any "bite", but following the 2014 suicide of Selim Lemouchi, guitarist of the Dutch rock band the Devil's Blood who was friends with members of Ghost, the lyrics materialized.[3]
My mother told me about bands like this. Hanging around, looking cool, then shows me a video and pretty music......then........all of the sudden........I have to pay for their merchandise. The next thing you know, I will be selling my soul to attend a concert. It never ends!
Rudolph Terblanche man I love their music so much. But you do know that Ghost doesn't really worship Satan right? This is all a gimmick that their doing.
I discovered Ghost because of a chick who showed her first year of progress learning guitar. One of the songs she played (sort of) was square hammer. Thank God she posted all the songs in the video! Been obsessed since.
A Nameless Ghoul told Loudwire that there are various degrees of personal meaning within the song, one of which is the lyrics. This is such a beautiful song....Ghost are an amazing group....I was mesmerised when I first saw them in 2014....they cover so many different genres that almost anyone can enjoy their songs
I must confess, when this band came out, I really didn't like them that much. But this song, is by far one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. Bravo.
Yes! I'm 52 years young, and when I heard my 20 something year old sons playing this song, I ran into the room asking them who this was, they said, "Ghost" at first I thought The Moody Blues had come out with something new! Lol! But I am hooked, Ghost is right up there for me with my two other favorite bands, Moody Blues and Rammstein, it's as if those two bands had a baby! ~That baby is ~Ghost 💜
Imagine getting this played on one of those Christian radio stations- and then halfway through it, they revel in horror at the realization that it's about Satan...
From an artistic and musical standpoint Tobias is a great vocalist and great with lyrics all of the nameless ghouls past and present are top notch musicians.
God damn but this song is beautiful. Listening to this always brings a sense of peace to me, a feeling of order and a cool warmth if that makes any sense.
Utterly amazing. Thank fuck for Ghost, absolutely brilliant musicians AND songwriter's. Thank Lucifer! I've never been this excited about a band since the 90's!🤘
I meet them at the lollapalooza argentina in march and when i saw them i said to my self wtf whit this clowns all dressed up. While they perform i was so surprised by the presence of this guys on stage. A few days ago remember that show and start to research about them and now i´m obsessed whit his songs
I wish I could have seen them at HellFest I'm a big fan and can't wait to see them one day, one of my mates was playing in his band 'Lacertilia' at HellFest as well, makes me envious playing at the same fest as them!
“Song is ten times more powerful than prayer” Could not be truer here, if you can actually listen to this without feeling an inexplicable need to embrace the rhythm you’re lying
as a classical philology student, i so fucking appreciate all latin in ghost's music, like, shit, these all hits different. nostra dis pater, nostr' alma mater
My father is a public school teacher. One of his students heard him play this and asked if he liked Religious music. He started it over and told them all to really listen to the lyrics
Just discovered this, and I am blown away. I'm an old guy who never believed I would hear the likes of the past masters in their prime (early 1970's), like Alice Cooper or Blue Oyster Cult, again in my lifetime, but these Swedes have done it (not saying they crib from the old bands...Ghost is amazingly original). Metal from the dark side with a talent for melody, and in this one, truly gorgeous harmonies and intelligent lyrics. Venning into Eric Woolfson territory with this single. Highly proficient musicians and vocal work. Listening to various tracks, I'm discovering fantastic diversity in style. Really, I have to thank Sweden for giving us the previous rockers TSOOL, and now Ghost, since Americans and even the Brits don't, or can't, do this any more. In the post-rock era, you just don't expect to find stuff like this, original, and instantly classic. I understand their act, their schtick, and I love it. They're in their prime, like their fans. I sincerely hope they continue their ascension.

Beautiful song. It reminds me of my sister who's locked up right now, who's my heart, my best friend, and the only person who completely understands me. Thank you so much for this piece of beauty in the world.
Ho-ly shit...I'm going through these random comments, and look who I run into...I'm really sorry about your sister. Just know that there is a complete stranger, probably far away from you, who is thinking about you at this very moment. Hope you are doing super fantastical!
It is very Satanic the way this song sounds so joyous and something everyone can sing sing along with a smile on their face which would horrify most Christians. It is also one of the best songs not only lyrically, but also musically I've heard in a long time. A bow to Ghost for such a great song.
I snuck this song into the playlist at Christmas dinner last year. Everyone loved it lol.
I married a very religious woman(I'm not) she heard this in my truck riding and liked it. Ruined her enjoyment when she tried to find it and found official video. I
😂
Legend status approved
Hero
My uncle chose this to be played at his funeral last year. He was a big Ghost fan
your uncle is for sure rocking out in the afterlife man. ❤
Congratulations to your uncle. Hehas descended 😈

@Rich Delaney I am fine although we never recover completely from a suicide of someone close. It is a death that we can’t admit. He will be at every concert with me.
I love how he made this sound like every contemporary Christian song out there...until you listen a little closer.
"To the beast with many names" yeah, that was my giveaway
@Harald Haram nah he's right
@Colton Allen Excuse me? I think you have drank too much coolaid
It's about lucifer. The jesus in the bible, and lucifer are actually the same entity trying to balance dark and light.
You could probably dupe some Christians with it for sure
Despite What people say when they hear me listening to Ghost, I don't worship the big guy down stairs.
These guys are just masterful song writers with a theme. A lot of songs of theirs are deeply metaphorical.
Well most people forget that the archangel downstairs does a pretty important job. And if you had a important job to be done, you would not hire just anyone would you?
Exactly! Me either. I actually love Jesus and all that is Him
Same garry, I have s dad and mom but dear mama is a great song
Was just about to say it's all about the metaphors
@xx1derqueeniexx "Gnosticism"
"He is the desobedience that holds us together" Perfect.
So perfect.
@Kyle Benzo Ave Satanas ;)
@The dinosaur emoji is trans AF definitely. Great song!
@vonzox Like a lot of Ghost songs there are multiple layers to it. It is most definitely also about Satan. Tobias' brother introduced him to a lot of the (metal) music that inspired him
vonzox I knew it was partly about his brother, but I never realized what this sentence meant! Thank you!
id start taking church more seriously if their music ever got this good
This can be your religion. The meaning can be however you interpret it. I don't believe in church because everyone has to think alike.
@Mercy g but it is parodying Christian rock. Satanism is all about twisting traditional Christian garbage, and this does that spectacularly.
@Brody this isnt christian hes singing about the devil
Dude for real
Gregorian chants, Mozart, Bach, Thomas Tallis
Church music has always slapped.
I'm a Christian but I really like this song. i don't let my religion get in the way of what i listen to
Christians might have tattoos but dont get tattoos
@Winston Smith I have another question. Why did he allow the killing of innocent women and children in the book of Samuel If they had no idea who the true God is? Just a complete slaughter in the name of God. Sounds very fucked up.
If God is prolife, why did he drown the children and pregnant woman in the time of Noah?
just when they play this song live, and everyone is singing along like we are at a big praise and worship church, is honestly such a mood
so beautiful
🌹
I'm totally slipping this in my grandma's karaoke playlist.
I liked your comment and made sure you hit 666, just for your grandma haha!
🤘🏻😂
The morning star is the angel lucifer, who is infact Satan. So yes he is all about light believe it or not. Just pointing out facts here.
XD
I hear this song and I imagine the Devil just sitting there wiping his eyes, going "aw, fellas!"
@J K 🤣🤣🤣
i lol'ed
@J K That's not even what satanism is.
@Mario Castillo what
Immensely haunting, and when "and we are falling, over the precipice" comes, so do the goosebumps.
That, i ain't had in years..!!
Awesome song.
LA MEJOR BANDA QUE HE ESCUCHADO EN AÑOS.
Me encanta esta canción 🎶
This song gives me so much strength. Unholy, free, pure strength.
Nossa que banda sensacional maravilhosa .isso sim que é som, sem palavras
Is it just me or is Ghost one of those bands where every song is good?
They are very good❤️
You’re not alone.
Yip I'd pretty much say so, each one is unique and epic in its own way!
Every Ghost song is good.
Sabaton is the same way
My parents are Christians and they hate my music, but when they heard this they thought I finally let some Jesus in me. Still no, ma.
@Sean Bergeron A lot of Muslims are afraid of this music because it supposedly is "satanic". I always ask if they are also afraid of horror movies and think they are forbidden to? By the same logic (or lack of it) it should be the case. I mean the exorcist warped my mind as a child.

This is one of those Ghost songs that will get people attracted to their music.
Great work boys!
It is exactly what just happened to me!!!
My mother told me about bands like this. Hanging around, looking cool, then shows me a video and pretty music......then........all of the sudden........I have to pay for their merchandise. The next thing you know, I will be selling my soul to attend a concert. It never ends!
Jeff MacInnis praise the devil, ha!
I want this and dance macabre played at my funeral, something to be me and something for those to groove too
Plot twist it's a song sung from the perspective of a moth who loves a candle.
Mad Genius 🤣🤣🤣🤙
Moths are Zoroastrian confirmed~

This is such a beautiful song....Ghost are an amazing group....I was mesmerised when I first saw them in 2014....they cover so many different genres that almost anyone can enjoy their songs
I've heard this song dozens of times and it still gives me chills. Quite possibly one of the best Ghost songs but there are so many good ones.

Magical. I've never heard anything quite like it.
Great song, great music, great brand! Love the lyrics
I must confess, when this band came out, I really didn't like them that much. But this song, is by far one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. Bravo.
Дьявольски божественно!

Magnificent melody, love this track.
I love this song.
They are the morning light that rock needed in this day and age.
Yes! One of the most beautiful songs Ive EVER heard in my life. Song writing, performance, production etc. is pure perfection.
Just saw them live yesterday having never previously heard of them. I've now purchased every song they have. Amazing band. Rock on
Imagine getting this played on one of those Christian radio stations- and then halfway through it, they revel in horror at the realization that it's about Satan...
@Aspiring Joker no luciferianism here
@Abner Santos-Pepin some religions have a distinction between the two, and refer to each as separate Princes of Hell.
Infernally divine music ❤️
right on
@Päivi Tee No sitten ollaan jo tavattu.

I am a huge fan of Ghost. They've done incredible things...It's amazing...
Just discovered Ghost very recently.....epic tune....I dig these guys, cool stuff...they have a cool "throwback" style of rock...they have "it"....
From an artistic and musical standpoint Tobias is a great vocalist and great with lyrics all of the nameless ghouls past and present are top notch musicians.
All they're acoustic songs have a very haunting nature.... I love it so much.
God damn but this song is beautiful. Listening to this always brings a sense of peace to me, a feeling of order and a cool warmth if that makes any sense.
I know exactly what you mean. Ave Lucifer.
I bought all of their cds. I haven't bought a cd in like 15 years but man, their music is just that good.
Just finished doing the same myself. I went from most recent to the oldest, in that order. Great stuff.
I love Ghost so much, and this has to be one of my favourite songs by them.

Really. For a second I thought this song was about Jesus.

Still amazed that GHOST is so damned talented.
Yeah! Once you hear them you can’t stop listening to them.
I mean...reguardless of your beliefs. This fucking slaps

Espetacular!!!
I saw them live a few weeks ago and they are fucking Amazing!
Guitars. Amazing guys. Drama aside, brilliant.
Beautiful music as always.
His pronunciation when he says " Nostro Dis Pater - Nostr'Alma Mater '' is simply perfect! It sounds like a true ITALIAN!
Vero!
@Shan Fran It seems to me that it's a combination of Italian and Latin.
@Shan Fran I know, but it's the same in Italian
Latin*
I love so much this song 💜
The first thing I thought when I heard this song was how much I felt like I was listening to an older version of Emerson Lake and Palmers - Lucky Man. With some nice bass added. It has that same smoothness and glorious harmony that creeps under your skin. Its fantastic.
when i thought rock was dead these guys comin and proves that i was wonderfully wrong...
@Chase Jenks nah metal purest and rock purest are the reason it's dead. All they do is trash anything that is different from what they like saying everything else is shit. Talking crap on new listeners to the genre and end up scaring them away.
These guys are rock? LMMFAO
This isn't what I would call rock
Rock was never dead homie
Dwayne Johnson Lives.
i’m from Brasil and this song touch my soul always, total feelings

I cannot stop listening to this song. I'm obsessed!
I nearly forgot, how great this band is...so happy i found it again after years of not listening:))
Can't get enough of this song...Amazing Chorus
Beautiful song. It reminds me of my sister who's locked up right now, who's my heart, my best friend, and the only person who completely understands me. Thank you so much for this piece of beauty in the world.
Ho-ly shit...I'm going through these random comments, and look who I run into...I'm really sorry about your sister. Just know that there is a complete stranger, probably far away from you, who is thinking about you at this very moment. Hope you are doing super fantastical!
+Angelia Serbinski Same
+Angelia Serbinski Did she burn a church? :P
Not satanist but I appreciate their love for their deity. A beautiful tribute akin to many other wonderful pieces from other faiths.
It is lovely boys
I absolutely love this song x
soy catolico pero de verdad amo esta banda
When I grow up and have kids, I'll sing this to them to get them to sleep
It is very Satanic the way this song sounds so joyous and something everyone can sing sing along with a smile on their face which would horrify most Christians. It is also one of the best songs not only lyrically, but also musically I've heard in a long time. A bow to Ghost for such a great song.
I love Ghosts ballads
Minha mãe ama essa musica man
I want to hear the guitar solo one hour in a row. Pure magic!
